San Francisco on a good day
8 and 9 October 2016
The treat has been all mine as I spend the weekend in San Francisco visiting my dear friend Pip who now lives in the 'Bay'. Being a patriotic Wellingtonian and in love with my own harbour, it's got to be pretty special to divert my attention and affection elsewhere. But I believe Wellington has met its match in the beautiful San Francisco Bay. Not one but two engineering marvels span the bay with the Golden Gate bridge to the north and (Oakland) Bay Bridge to the east. They are spectacular. Graceful, expansive and strong, these bridges connect the people of Sausalito and Oakland / Lafayette / Berkeley respectively to the 'main land' and city centre. They frame the famous Alcatraz Island and give thousands of people an adventure; be it to drive, walk or cycle over or sail under. Or simply stare at and photograph, their beauty being so bold.
Check out the beautiful weather in these photos. No fog for the whole weekend, just glorious, sunny and warm. Click the link to see what San Francisco travel has to say too
